President
Now that you have a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome
and/or Tourette Syndrome Spectrum Disorder, what’s next?
There are some supports for you and your family already in place.
The local chapter of Tourette Syndrome Association is known as
Tourette Syndrome Association-Rocky Mountain Region (TSA-RMR).
We are assisted and guided by the national Tourette Syndrome Association
in New York. Our Rocky Mountain Region chapter is made up of individuals
who have Tourette Syndrome, or their parents or family members.
We serve the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Nevada.
We provide education on tics and associated disorders (Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder, ADHD, and learning disabilities), support
groups, advocacy in the school setting or the workplace, small
or large group presentations, connections to national resources,
a list of providers including psychiatrists and psychologists,
and newsletters with the latest information.
We invite you to join TSA-RMR. It is a place where support can
be provided and where you will grow in your skills of self-advocacy
and be better prepared for the talents and challenges you will
find.
If you have a child newly diagnosed, you are in a position to
change the world as they experience it. With the help of professionals
and a Tourette chapter, your knowledge base will increase, making
discussions with teachers from kindergarten to end of high school
much more effective. A formal school presentation can be made
with video and small groups to school staff who are with your
child every day of the school year. With the help of professionals
and a Tourette chapter, you can find the support for the day to
day challenges.
If you are an adult with Tourette Syndrome, the chapter will explore
all the resources we have to assist you with the questions you
are asking and the answers that will make a difference. People
all over our country are working to increase understanding, make
progress through research, and connect to each other and share
what they know.
Become and stay active with TSA-RMR. The organization will provide
you with resources and support now and in the future as the conditions
of TS change.
